雙氰胺性狀：白色結晶性粉末。水中溶解度在13℃時為2.26%，在熱水中溶解度較大。當水溶液在80℃時逐漸分解產生氨氣。無水乙醇、乙醚中溶解度在13℃時，分別為1.26%和0.01%。溶于液氨、熱水、乙醇、丙酮水合物、二甲基甲酰胺，難溶于乙醚，不溶于苯和氯仿。
雙氰胺用途：雙氰胺常與甲醛、氯化銨等搭配使用，用于制造固色劑（固Y），也常作為原料主要用于生產胍胺、雙縮胍、多重樹脂、三聚氰胺、阻火劑等，在人造革中用途填料，在粘合劑中用途添加劑等。
